In terms of which components of your vehicle are important, your battery ranks pretty high. But it’s often neglected, like a dog that you loved as a puppy but now see only as a burden. Don’t be that way. Here’s how to get the most out of your battery …
# 1 – Buy a charger
If you ever let your vehicle sit for a while, your battery can experience self-discharge. The stored energy in the battery diminishes over time. This reduces the shelf life of a battery. Leave a high-quality charger on your battery (a charger than intelligently knows when to charge and when no to) and you can prevent this!
# 2 – Keep It Clean
Do you notice any corrosion around the attachments on your battery? Mix up a batch of water and vinegar. Using a plastic brush, scrub away the buildup.
# 3 – Keep It Greasy
To make absolutely sure that the connections between your vehicle and your battery are as good as they can be, buy some dielectric grease. This will help prevent corrosion and improve connection.
