The 2016 Nissan Maxima luxury sedan is one of the hottest new vehicles on the market, combining signature Nissan style, powerful performance, and impressive fuel-efficiency. And now, we know that the Maxima is also super safe.
The U.S. government has issued the Maxima’s results from the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), which it passed with an overall score of five stars. In fact, the Maxima scored five stars in every major category: frontal crash, side crash, and rollover.
The only portion of the testing in which the 2016 Maxima received four stars – which is still quite a high score – was in the side pole test, which simulates what would happen if the car were to crash into something like a pole or a tree.
Other major safety-testers, like the IIHS and NHTSA, have yet to announce their scores for the 2016 Maxima, but we think it’s safe to say that their findings will be similar.
